The Caregiving Journey CIC

A community interest company supporting the emotional reality of caring, decline, and difficult conversations.

The Caregiving Journey CIC exists for people who are doing their best and finding it harder than expected while supporting a parent, partner, or relative while also managing work, family, and their own lives.

The Caregiving Journey CIC exists because too many people are expected to cope alone when caring for others.

Across families, charities, and frontline services, people step in quietly, manage complex situations, and keep going. The emotional impact of this is rarely acknowledged or supported. Over time, this can lead to exhaustion, anxiety, conflict, and burnout.

This work exists to offer space, structure, and support before people reach breaking point.

What is a Community Interest Company?

The Caregiving Journey is a Community Interest Company (CIC), also known as a social enterprise.

It is a special type of limited company created to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. Any income is reinvested to support the work and ensure it remains accessible and ethical.

Why This Work Matters

Caring for others, whether professionally or personally, involves repeated exposure to distress, uncertainty, and difficult decisions.

Most support systems focus on practical tasks or crisis management. There is often little space for reflection, emotional processing, or honest conversation about what this responsibility is doing to people over time.

The Caregiving Journey CIC was created to address that gap.

Caregiving is rarely short term and for many, it is a long and demanding chapter lasting years. The emotional impact is rarely acknowledged, with grief, guilt, anger, and exhaustion often continue long after a loved one has died.

What We Provide

The Caregiving Journey CIC provides structured support focused on the human side of care.

This includes:

  • Group coaching for carers and people working in caring roles

All work is practical, grounded, and rooted in real experience.

Access Through Sponsorship

Some group coaching programmes and webinars are made possible through sponsorship from businesses and organisations who wish to support carers, charities, and community groups.

Sponsorship enables:

  • charities to offer support without passing costs onto carers or volunteers

  • programmes to run independently and with integrity

Who We Work With

The Caregiving Journey CIC works with:

  • Carers and families
  • Charities and voluntary organisations
  • Community groups and support networks
  • Businesses seeking to support carers and frontline services through responsible social investment

Community Support and Funding

The Caregiving Journey CIC is grateful to Amber Valley Borough Council for funding awarded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This support enabled the launch of the service in the Amber Valley area of Derbyshire, covering startup costs, web design, and the delivery of free community workshops.

As NHS and social care services come under increasing pressure, the voluntary and community sector plays an increasingly important role in supporting people before they reach crisis.

Our Purpose

Care should not come at the cost of people’s lives.

The Caregiving Journey CIC exists to create space for reflection, conversation, and support before coping turns into collapse.
